ESU/UITM: Creative Teaching Program
ESU Malaysia created and led a short but intensive three session program for 10 university students of UITM, Shah Alam, who are specialising in Education. These modules were led by Mrs. Gail Featherstone, Ms. Emily Lee (who have over 50 years of combined teaching experience), Datin Shalini Ganendra and UITM Lecturer – Puan Adzura Eliew.
Content presented creative ways of engaging and developing interest, while maintaining class control. The basic premise of the sessions was: if students enjoy class, they will learn more and eventually, have better exam performance. The modules encouraged participation and discussion amongst all group participants.
The UITM students will have the opportunity to test these techniques through practical application, at schools throughout the Klang Valley, the following term.
Workshop 1
Discussion of classroom organisational challenges, student enthusiasm, control situations and individual member objectives.
Workshop 2
Reviewed suggested ways of class control; raising class participation and interest; and creative ways of teaching the required curriculum.
