In 2006, ESU Malaysia started the innovative Gift of Knowlege program which brings the English language to students, through teaching programs and the wonderful annual gift of books. ESU Malaysia receives annually, set publications from ESU USA. These books are mostly award winning titles, some of which are prestigious ESU USA Ambassador Book Award winners.

The ESU Malaysia Board then annually selects a worthy institution to gift these publications to, thereby bringing English literature to those who might otherwise not have access. The goal is to, of course, help raise English proficiency through reading, discussion and written review.

The English Speaking Union of Malaysia (ESU Malaysia), as part of its ESU Malaysia – Gift of Knowledge Program, donated a selection of 40 award winning titles to Malaysia’s UiTM Resource Center, for public enjoyment. The purpose of this effort is to bring English literature to schools that might otherwise not have financial access to these publications, and by doing so, help to raise students’ and other readers’ proficiency in English.
